Major Curriculum Glow-Up: What’s New in AP Stats Unit 1

May 2, 2025 | AP Statistics

Hey teacher friends! 💛

I’m popping in with a big announcement that I think you’re going to love: I just finished a major refresh of Unit 1 of my AP Statistics curriculum, and I’m so excited to share what’s new.

If you already own my curriculum, first of all, THANK YOU. Seriously. Your support means the world to me. Second of all, you now have access to all of these updates for free. Yep. No new purchases, no add-ons: just go re-download the Unit 1 files and enjoy all the shiny new things.

Why the Update?

Let’s be honest: the original Unit 1 notes? They were good, but chunky. Bell-to-bell lessons that sometimes needed two days to get through. I heard your feedback and lived the reality in my own classroom, so I knew it was time for a glow-up.

This update was all about breaking things down, making content more digestible for students, and ensuring each day feels manageable and focused. I wanted the homework to align better with the new structure, and I re-recorded all of the videos to match the new notes, plus, they’re clearer, shorter, and more student-friendly now!

What’s New in Unit 1?

Let’s get into it!

Notes split from 6 sets to 10 sets

  • The original 4 notes on one-variable data are now 7 smaller, focused lessons
  • There’s a brand-new lesson just for TI-84 calculator instruction 🎉
  • Days that used to require 2 days of instruction (looking at you, Notes #2 and #3) are now separated into clearer, shorter lessons

Normal Distribution section expanded

  • Instead of 2 big lessons, it’s now 3 clearly defined days
  • That means 3 notes + 3 homeworks, giving you and your students more breathing room

New Jeopardy-style review game

  • Because review days should be fun and not just another worksheet
  • This adds one more day to the pacing, but trust me, it’s worth it

So in total, I only added 3 days to the pacing guide, but the clarity, flexibility, and flow? Next level.
