Goldie’s Curriculum Updates for AP Statistics

Sep 26, 2024 | AP Statistics

Welcome to the official update log for Goldie’s AP Statistics curriculum. As I continue to enhance and expand the resources, lesson plans, and projects available, you can stay up-to-date with the latest additions right here.

With each monthly update, you’ll find detailed overviews of all the improvements and new content that will make your statistics lessons more engaging and effective.

You can get these updates a few different ways:

  • If you purchased from my TPT store, go to “My Purchases” and scroll down to your product. There will be an option there to redownload the resource and it will have the updates there.
  • If you purchased from my Emporium, go to the email you received with your download link. When you click on that link to redownload the product, you will get the new updates.
  • You can also email me at any time (goldiesmathemporium[at]gmail.com) and ask for the individual files included in the updates. Please include your purchase method and order number and I will send them directly to you!

November 2024 Updates

11/7 – Updated Unit 9

I’m happy to announce the “revamp” of Unit 9 is completely finished! In the new unit, you will find new student-guided notes (with PowerPoint slides and new videos), new homework assignments, a new assessment with a grading rubric, and a new calculator summary sheet.

11/21 – Unit 4 Test Corrections

I made a new Unit 4 Test (called Version 1 in the folder) this year and there were some typos that were just found.

#6, the probability was incorrectly calculated (you can see the error I made in the work), I’ve changed the key and updated the answer choices to now have the correct answer.

#12, the expected value was calculated incorrectly. The work is correct, but I must have fat-fingered the calculator keys and gotten the wrong answer. This changes the expected amount of money made, so the answer choices have been updated to include the correct answer.

#16, for the free response problem, the probability distribution doesn’t add up to 1. If your students don’t notice this, they can complete the problem and get the answer that I got in the key no problem. I did adjust the probabilities in the new version so they add up to 1, and this changed the answers slightly.

#17, the table rows do not correctly add up. LUCKILY this doesn’t change the mosaic plot or the answers to the questions, but it can be confusing if students notice it, so I’ve adjusted those totals.

October 2024 Updates

10/1 – Updated Unit 2 Test Version 1

We found a typo in problem #5 of the new Unit 2 Test Version 1. The correct answer was not listed! I fixed the problem (the y-intercept was calculated incorrectly), and the files have been updated!

10/9 – Updated Unit 3 Guided Notes & Homework

HUGE update today!! Unit 3, Collecting Data, has now been updated with new guided notes, including PowerPoint slides, videos, and homework assignments.

10/16 – NEW Unit 4 Assessment, Grading Rubric, and Calculator Commands Summary Sheet

Unit 4 now has a BRAND NEW Unit 4 test, a grading rubric for all of the assessments, a new typed Unit 4 test review, and a calculator commands summary sheet.

10/21 – Unit 3 Version 1 Test Corrections

Two updates to the new Unit 3 test:

        • #3, choice (A) should say: “Randomization – subjects were randomly assigned to one of three treatment groups”
        • #5, this problem should ask how many factors and TREATMENTS (not levels) are present in the experiment
  • Unit 3 Complete Plans (TPT or Emporium)
  • Unit 3 Assessments (TPT or Emporium)

September 2024 Updates

9/3 – Updated Unit 2 COVID project

The table in problem #2 of Claim 1 has students comparing vaccination rate vs new cases in the population. The numbers in the new cases in the population were created by taking new cases and dividing by the population from the original data set. So for Alabama, 542/4,876,250 would be 0.0001112. I wanted students to work with whole numbers for this project, so I have the column labeled as “hundredth of a percent”, so Alabama has the value 11. Originally, I had this in the table as 11%, but the extra percent sign was misleading, so I changed all the values to eliminate that percentage.

9/10 – Updated Unit 2 HW 1 Key

The original solution for 1c, which asked if you would agree or disagree that there is an association, wasn’t accurate with the data from the table. While it would have been an okay description if students were just given the graphs (since we approximate values with the graphs), because we had the original data, the answer should be more precise. I changed the answer key to reflect this.

9/12 – New Unit 2 project added – Addition vs Multiplication Facts

A new Unit 2 project has been added! I love the COVID data project, but the data and topic is getting outdated, so I wanted to mix it up and come up with a fun activity where students can gather data in class and then perform an analysis on the class data.

9/12 – Typed Unit 2 Test Review Key

The Unit 2 Test Review Key is now editable in Word, making classroom edits easier for you.

9/19 – Updated Unit 1 Circuit

We caught this mistake last year but I guess the file wasn’t updated for this year! You might have already gotten this change, but for the problem in the box labeled “Answer: H”, which is problem #13 in the key, choices (C) and (E) had the same answer. (E) is what students should choose, so I changed the answer for (C) to be Largest: I and Smallest: III.

9/23 – Typed Unit 3 Test Review Key & Unit 3 Calculator Commands Sheet

The Unit 3 Test Review Key is now editable in Word, making classroom edits easier for you. I also added a Unit 3 Calculator Commands Sheet in the Guided Notes. While students do not have to know how to generate random numbers on their calculator for the AP exam, it is still a great skill to go over with your students. This one page summary reminds students how to do that, and talks about some of the other random number generator features on the calculator as well.

9/25 – New Unit 3 Assessment and Grading Rubric

A BRAND NEW Unit 3 assessment is here! This assessment is 15 new multiple choice questions, and 2 new free response questions. A grading rubric has also been added, that goes over how to assign points to each of the free response questions in the quiz and the two tests.
